This client was the kind of young, fun luxury yacht owner you dream of working with. Being a lady owner also made her a rarity. As I began working, I realised I needed to better understand the client's personal style and lifestyle, how did she plan to use the boat? It's a sheer joy to work with client's who are open to new ideas and concepts, which is just as well because my concepts for Fox Sea Lady were quite a departure from the look and feel of her previous vessel. Most importantly I wanted to get the right feeling happening for this boat and not to sacrifice beauty and form for function. Every soft furnishing fabric onboard was made from Sunbrella performance fabrics, this eliminated concerns about wet bottoms and towels on beds, issue of fading, stains and mould. I introduced some cooler tones to neutralise the very warm light created by the timber detail, a layering of same tone fabrics and complimenting patterns gave interest without being overwhelming. I aimed to create comfy nooks everywhere, quiet retreats to read and places where family and friends could come together to share time.
